Welcome to the website of W.J. Kent Tree Consultancy. An independent specialist that conducts tree surveys, tree inspections and produces in-depth arboricultural reports – including Arboricultural Impact Assessments – we provide expert advice regarding the management and maintenance of trees and woodland in both urban and rural environments. We cover the southeast of England, and areas in which we’re particularly popular include Bromley, Croydon, Epsom, Kingston and Sutton (though we do travel nationwide upon request, depending on the size and type of project at hand).
Our clients range from fellow arboricultural professionals, such as tree surgeons, to landowners with varied needs, having unique tree populations of different sizes and species; this means our advice is always distinctly bespoke, jargon-free, and impartial. At W.J. Kent Tree Consultancy, we aim to ensure that individuals, companies and public bodies are able to safely and peacefully co-exist with the land they care for, whether through the provision of a tree survey and any subsequently required arboricultural reports, or an individual tree safety inspection.
To obtain a free, no obligation estimate for any of the services detailed across this website, don’t hesitate to contact our team on 020 8668 8362. We’re also always happy to provide advice and assistance over the phone, should you have a query regarding a tree survey, tree safety inspection or any of the arboricultural reports we carry out.
Our consultancy was formed back in 2007 by William Kent, our principal consultant. Boasting nearly three decades of experience within the industry, William started out as a freelance climbing arborist before founding W.J. Kent Tree Surgeons Ltd in 1995.
The company grew rapidly, enjoying word of mouth recommendations throughout many local areas – including our current principal service areas of Bromley, Croydon, Epsom, Kingston, Sutton, Surrey and the wider southeast of England. In 2011, it received the Arboricultural Associations ‘Approved Contractor Status’, recognising commitment to quality working practice.
Studying at Merris Wood College in Guildford, William obtained the RFS Certificate in Arboriculture (Level 2) in 2000. This was followed by obtaining the Level 4 Arboricultural Association Technicians certificate just two years later. In 2007, he went into full time consultancy work; the same year, he secured full LANTRA certification for Professional Tree Inspection, certifying him as a qualified, official user of the QTRA system (Quantified Tree Risk Assessment). This was what fired up the will to get back into the hands-on side of consultancy work, donning climbing equipment once again.
Returning to college in 2009, William studied for the prestigious RFS Professional Diploma in Arboriculture (level 6), obtaining it three years later. Full, professional membership of the Arboricultural Association (MArborA) followed in 2013.
Despite this rich history of education, he continues to attend industry events and professional development courses, knowing that we never truly stop learning – and that staying at the forefront of the industry ensures clients in Bromley, Croydon, Epsom, Kingston, Sutton, Surrey and the wider southeast of England receive an unrivalled standard of consultancy, whether they require a tree survey, tree inspection or in-depth arboricultural reports.
We look to set ourselves apart by remaining committed to training and development. Other relevant skills and certification we hold include:
